Simple Parallel Port ISP Programmer for AVR:
I think this is the best programmer for AVR Microcontroller begineers because of its simple circuitry, low cost and easy interface. You just need a parallel port, PC with parallel port, connecting wires, few resistors and capacitors to built it.
Configure the circuit as per the circuit diagram. Connect it to the PC through the parallel
port and on the ISP terminal connect the microcontroller to be programmed. If you want to use it with CodeVision AVR then select "Kanda System" as the programming hardware. For other Compiler, you can use " ISP Flash Programmer " to load the Hex file generated after compilation on to the microcontroller.
NOTE: The capacitors (.1uF) and resistance (only 10K) should be near the microcontroller side and the cable of length 1mtr or less is recomended. While programming, the power supply of the microcontroller must be turned ON.
